Message to Student AthletesI.B. Love Athletics have attained a rich history of athletic excellence. This tradition was not built overnight. It took years of dedication, commitment and hard work by countless number of people. As an I.B. Love Athletics student, you must continue to strive to uphold a high standard of excellence. Once you have become a member of a team, you have made a choice to uphold certain standards in our community. Our precepts include the following:

  1. The use of vulgar or profane language is unacceptable
  2. The coach shall set the standard for dress
  3. The coach shall set the standard for practice, workouts and contest
  4. Respect yourself, teammates and opponents
  5. Never attempt to undermine or usurp the authority of ANY adult
  6. Use social media appropriately

Parent/Coach Relations:

Both parenting and coaching are extremely difficult vocations. By establishing un understanding of each position, we are better able to accept the actions of the other and provide a greater benefit to the student athlete. As parents/guardians, when your student athlete becomes involved in our programs, you have a right to understand what expectations are placed upon your student athlete. Our staff is committed to getting the most out of the student athlete. This cannot be a one-sided affair. The student athlete and you must have the same drive coupled with realistic expectations. It is important to understand that there may be times when things do not go the way that you or your student athlete wishes. At these moments, discussion with the coach is encouraged. The following are conditional situations:

  1. Treatment of your student athlete, mentally or physicallly
  2. Ways to help your student athlete improve
  3. Concerns about your student athlete's behavior
  4. Scheduling conflict resolutions in advance
  5. Injuries that would prevent peak performances

It is very difficult to accept your student athlete non usage rate as you may view it. Coaches are the professionals. They make decisions based on what they believe to be best for the TEA/ORGANIZATION. Issues Not Appropriate to discuss with Coaches are as follow:

  1. Playing time/Usage rate
  2. Team strategy
  3. Other Student Athletes

These are situations that may require a conference between a coach and parent/guardian. These are to be encouraged. It is important that both parties involved have a clear understanding of the other's position. When these conferences are necessary, the following procedure must be followed:

  1. Call the coach and set up an appointment
  2. Please give yourself time to understand your concern before approaching a coach/staff member. Attem.pting to confront a coach before, during or immediately after a contest or practice is not an ideal time. These can be emotional times for all involved and do not promote positive resolutions or outcomes.

The aforementioned precepts are intended to provide satisfactory resolutions.
